Description
Irene Molnár (b. 1986, Buenos Aires) is a visual artist and researcher.
She began her studies in Social Communication at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 2006 but soon gravitated toward the visual arts, teaching herself to paint in 2008. She later honed her craft through workshops and, in 2013, enrolled at the Manuel Belgrano Higher School of Artistic Education (ESEA). In 2011, she also studied Theatre Direction at the National University of the Arts (UNA), actively participating in independent theatre festivals, film projects, and national and international artistic cycles.
Molnár has deepened her artistic practice through curatorial studies with María Lightowler (2021) and artistic clinics with Tulio de Sagastizabal (2021), Diana Aisemberg (2022–23), and Leila Tschoop (2019). Her work has earned significant recognition, including the Sívori Museum Artist Book Award (2022) and a selection in the OSDE Foundation Award (2021). In 2017, she participated in a group exhibition at Espacio Modos, where one of her paintings was chosen to become part of the Vital Art Collection.
Her residency experience includes a grant at Ruido Blanco Residency in Puerto Iguazú, where she developed both a painting and a performance-based project. Since 2017, she has been teaching art while continuing to exhibit her work in both solo and group shows, as well as participating in talks, festivals, and cultural events in various spaces since 2012.
