Description

Carolina Antoniadis was born in Rosario, Santa Fe province, in 1961. She lives and works in Buenos Aires. Her love and passion for art are inherited from her grandfather, Demetrio Antoniadis, a painter and landscaper who settled in Rosario after emigrating from Greece and soon joined the group of Impressionists from the Litoral. In 1984, she received a higher degree in Painting at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts. During 1987 she was a member of the Grupo de la X. From 1990 to 2001, she worked in the Skific Saltzman chair of the Clothing and Textile Design career at the University of Buenos Aires. Between 1996 and 2003, she was a third-year professor of Painting at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón National School of Fine Arts. Since his first solo exhibition, in 1987, he has made dozens of exhibitions and has participated in international fairs and biennials such as the Cuenca Biennial (Ecuador), in 1998, and the Panama Biennial, in 2013. He was also part of the Workshop of the Fundación Progreso, sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation. She received the Grant for Artistic Creation from the Antorchas Foundation in 1989 and 1999. That last year she also won the Grant from the National Fund for the Arts. In 2016, she won the First Prize for Drawing at the National Visual Arts Hall for her work Human Trace and the Grand Prize Acquisition of the National Painting Hall for The sound of drift. Both paintings belong to her latest series, Mental sounds (2017), and many of her works are part of public and private collections, both in Argentina and abroad.
